Win an ORIGINAL PAGE of Reed Artwork!

Say WHAT?!

You mean we’re just giving away a page of original Reed Gunther artwork?! That’s right! It’s a CONTEST!

To help us spread the word about pre-ordering Reed Gunther #1 (order code: APR110403) we need you the people to travel to your local comic book shop and tell them about such a cool book! As a reward, Chris has generously offered up a page of original artwork from issue #1, Reed Gunther and the Steak Snacking Snake to go to one lucky winner!

Print This Reed Gunther Poster

How to Enter:

1.) Print out the awesome Reed Gunther WANTED poster seen above. Click on the picture to make it bigger and then select “print” from your web browser’s file menu.

2.) Write your initials on the front in the white space on the bottom left. This is so we know that you hung up this poster. There can be more than one poster per store, but the one you submit should have your initials on it.

3.) Take it to your local comic book shop and ask the owner if you can hang it up somewhere in the store. While you’re there, ask that nice comic book store employee if he would please pre-order a copy of Reed Gunther #1 from Image Comics for you. Psst, order code: APR110403

4.) Once hung, snap a photo of yourself standing next to the poster in the comic book shop.

5.) Now email that picture of you and the poster to mail@reedgunther.com! In the email, please also include your name, address, and the name of comic shop where your Reed Gunther poster is hung. And now you’re done! Your name will then be entered into the contest for your chance to win an original page from Reed Gunther #1.

Don’t know where your local comic shop is? Enter your zip code at ComicShopLocator.com and they’ll tell you!

And now, here’s the page 22 from Reed Gunther and the Steak Snacking Snake! The page you could win!

RG_SSS_pg22This page is 11″x17″. Chris pencils the page in blue pencil and then inks over in black ink. When scanned into the computer, the blue pencil does not show. To learn more about how Chris creates a page of Reed Gunther, check out this blog post!

Other rules:

You may be any age to enter. We’re all-ages!

You must have a mailing address within the United States of America.

You may only enter the contest once, but feel free to post Reed Gunther WANTED posters in as many shops as you like!

You must hang the poster in a shop that is able to pre-order Reed Gunther #1 from Diamond’s PREVIEWS comic catalog.

You may hang your poster in a shop that already has a Reed Gunther WANTED poster in it. You will differentiate your poster from any others by writing your initials on your poster on the bottom left (step #2).

Contest ends on April 28th at midnight, PST. The winner will be randomly drawn out of a hat by Shane and Chris and announced the following week.

If you do not follow all of the above stated rules, you will not be included in the finally drawing. So please make sure you’ve got everything! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us by emailing mail@reedgunther.com, or by commenting below.

Now get to it!

Order Reed Gunther At Your Local Comic Shop!

Reed Gunther #1

Wowee guys!

Reed Gunther #1 is available for order in the latest issue of PREVIEWS!

Independent comic books live and die by their pre-orders so we need you to get out there and ask your local shop to get some copies of Reed! The truth is, many comic shops stick to what they know will sell (the big guys, superheroes, you know ‘em…) and they don’t want to take a chance on a little book that they’ve never heard of and that no one may want to buy. Then they’re stuck with it and use it as kindling to start their grills.

NO ONE’S ROASTING THEIR BRATWURSTS OVER REED GUNTHER!

(although that does sound delicious… Chris! Get some bratwursts!)

What we need you to do is call your local shop and give them this code:

APR110403

Tell them you would like to make sure they have REED GUNTHER #1 on June 1st so you can come and buy it.

“But Shane! I’m your friend who barely reads comics but still wants to support you. I don’t know where my local shop is!”

That’s OK good buddy! Simply visit ComicShopLocator.com, type in your zip code and it will give you a list of shops in your area! Give them a ring and ask them to pre-order Reed Gunther #1. Give them the Diamond order code: APR110403 to help them find the order code quickly and easily.

And most importantly, THANK YOU for reading all this, pre-ordering Reed Gunther at your local shop, and for supporting us and independent comics! YOU ROCK!

As a reward, click here for the link to a four-page, FULL COLOR preview of Reed Gunther #1!

Whoo-Hoo!

Panels for Primates

Hey folks!

Chris and I have a lot of great Image news to share with you soon! We’ve got all sorts of fun promos, images, and contests to get ready for the big Image release on June 1st!

But before we get into all that, and because we know it’s been a while since we released any comics, take a look at the charity comic we made for Act-I-Vate’s  Panels for Primates!

Panels for Primates is a charity anthology to help benefit the Primate Rescue Center. If you’d like to donate, please visit primaterescue.org and specify that the donation is for Panels for Primates.

Here’s a description of the Primate Rescue Center from their site:

“The Primate Rescue Center occupies some 30 acres in central Kentucky, with buildings and grounds designed to afford the animals a quiet, sheltered place to spend their lives. The centerpiece of the sanctuary is a state-of-the-art chimpanzee enclosure—currently home to 11 chimps—that was completed in the summer of 2006 and since updated with climbing structures and other improvements designed for the animals’ enrichment. A fenced tunnel lets the animals move between the spacious outdoor enclosure and their temperature-controlled sleeping area.

In addition, the PRC features 10 custom indoor/outdoor monkey enclosures with heated houses; the 40 animals occupying these spacious enclosures choose where they wish to spend their time, and, except in the most inclement weather, most venture outdoors for at least part of the day.

Keeping so many apes and monkeys fed is a monumental task: in an average day, our staff and volunteers process and prepare 300 pounds of fresh fruit, vegetables, grains, and pasta. To insure that this critical task gets done on time each day, the PRC boasts an industrial kitchen that would rival that of any gourmet restaurant.”

Read our goofy monkey comic here, and if you scroll down to the comment section you can read our pretty hilarious bios as well.

Thanks for reading!

REED GUNTHER LASSOS A NEW HOME
Shane and Chris Houghton Bring Their Grizzly-Riding Cowboy to Image Comics in June

Berkeley, CA – 1 March 2011 – REED GUNTHER, the fun all-ages western adventure created by brothers Shane and Chris Houghton will soon be available in full color for the first time through Image Comics, beginning this June. The creators’ originally self-published five-issue miniseries will then be followed by an all-new series chock full of the same wild antics fans expect from their favorite hapless cowboy.

Whether battling supernatural monsters, tracking down slimy villains, or catching a runaway train, REED GUNTHER has already won many fans over with its good-natured wit and rambunctious style. Comic Book Resources gave an enthusiastic recommendation: “If you truly want to read a comic that is good, clean fun, completely unhinged from continuity, crossovers or company agendas, then do yourself a favor and pick this book up.”

“Chris and I were physically carrying new issues of REED GUNTHER to our local comic shops to be sold,” said writer Shane Houghton of the brothers’ decision to move to Image Comics. “We are incredibly excited to be working with Image, who can help us spread our goofy, wild adventures of cowboys and monsters to a wider audience.”

“Publishing through Image allows us to release our original series in color, something we had always wanted to do,” added illustrator Chris Houghton. “Watching Reed ride Sterling into the sunset is going to be that much more spectacular now in color!”

REED GUNTHER #1, a 32-page full-color all-ages western comedy for $2.99, will come galloping full speed into a comic store near you on June 1, 2011. For more information on Reed Gunther, Sterling, and all their unruly friends and foes, visit www.reedgunther.com.
