We’re pumping them out! Only 3 short weeks after issue #7 hit the stands, Reed Gunther, Sterling, and Starla are galloping into comic shops again! But this month, it’s Starla who’s taking the reins…

It’s the Starla issue! After realizing she is “just one of the guys,” Starla has a breakdown and decides she needs to act more like a traditional Western lass. Of course, this goes poorly when Reed is in need of her punching-expertise when mummies begin to resurrect and want to eat his face!

In a recent review of RG #7, FanboyComics.net said this about Starla:

“It’s very refreshing to find a female lead who’s the loudest and often the most competent of all the main characters. Starla has a good head on her shoulders, and her no-nonsense attitude balances Reed’s impulsive heroism. She’s tough as nails, speaks her mind, and would be a good role model for any young female readers.”

If you can’t wait to get to your local comic shop, you can purchase a digital version of this issue right here on Graphic.ly:

This is a stand alone, done-in-one adventure so be sure to let folks who have never picked up a copy of REED GUNTHER before know!

Take a look into the first 9-PAGES of this story over at Newsarama!

“It’s nigh on impossible to fault Reed Gunther. It’s fun, accessible, entertaining and there’s always a sense that everyone involved is doing the best they can do and enjoying it while they do it. I’ve praised a lot of Image comics other the past 12 months, but Reed Gunther is as good as any other.”

Hey folks!

As the year comes to an end, Chris and I have taken a look a back at a year of firsts for REED GUNTHER and look forward to a new year filled with awesomeness!

It looks like we’ve made a little splash in the world of comics this year and a few press sites have taken notice.

iFanboy.com awarded REED GUNTHER by naming it #1 on its list of TEN MOST FUN COMICS OF 2011!

ComicAttack.net named REED GUNTHER as their #1 TOP ALL-AGES TITLE OF 2011!

ComicImpact.com reviewed REED GUNTHER #6 and singled out that issue as “the most fun comic of 2011!”

Well Watchers podcast awarded REED GUNTHER with BEST TRADE PAPERBACK COLLECTION OF 2011!

TheSnipeNews.com awarded REED GUNTHER as the MOST OVERLOOKED COMIC OF 2011!

Every month there are more and more folks discovering Reed and jumping headfirst into any issue. Don MacPherson over at EyeOnComics.com started with issues #5 and #6 and was smitten:

“The Houghton brothers clearly have a passion for comics and for light, goofy adventure. Each issue — hell, each panel — exudes so much personality and whimsy, one can’t help but smile at the title character’s triumphs and gaffes.”

And most strangely flattering… Chris and I were named number 6 and 7 on the list of TOP TEN SEXIEST COMIC CREATORS over at FreakinAwesomeNetwork.com. Seriously.

In the digital realm, REED GUNTHER #1 is now available on Comixology for FREE! Be sure to rate the book with as many stars as you feel appropriate. Also, the digital trade paperback is now only $7.99! What a steal!

2012 is going to be a big year for Reed Gunther so we hope you’re all on board! Starting in January, we have an incredibly fun werewolf story! Then in February, Reed takes a back seat as we have a spooky and fun story with Starla as the lead! Issues #9 and #10 are going to be an EPIC two-parter that you are not going to want to miss.

Thanks for reading all our goofy bear-riding adventures and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Happy Reading!

- Shane

PICKLED BEETS! STEAK AND BEANS! SMOKIN’ GUACAMOLE!
Can you believe it?! Our first ever trade paperback collection is in stores today! The pages and stories contained in this 184 page book has taken Chris and I over two years to complete. The first issue in this collection is the first full-length comic we’ve ever created. Wow.

Wow.

Chris pointed out to me that although this collection took us over two years to create, the next collection (out in June) will have taken us about 7 months! WHAT?! We love being a monthly book!

We have to extend a huge thanks to the folks at Image Comics for supporting us and helping us reach a much bigger audience.

Brian Truitt from USA Today wrote a super awesome and incredibly flattering article about the graphic novel sized collection of bear-riding goofiness!

If you’re interested in snagging a copy for yourself, there’s tons of ways to do it!

- Go to your local comic book shop

Thanks to all our fans who continue to support us by pre-ordering our monthly single issues. Pre-ordering your books really helps your publisher know you’re not just making kindling for the fire!

Thanks to everyone who’s read our bear-riding adventures! Reed Readers are the best!

Oh yeah! And come hang out with us tonight at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles to celebrate the release!
