Sick of seeing Chris draw panels of Reed Gunther in fast motion yet? ME NEITHER!
Check out this new video of Chris inking one of my favorite panels from the upcoming Reed Gunther in Trains, Reigns, and Pains! (available Jan. 20th)
A new issue means new characters!
These guys may not play too big of a role in Reed Gunther in Trains, Reigns, and Pains! but I sure do enjoy their brief appearance. Although they’re a couple of scrawny fellas, I’ll bet they’re delicious…
With the release date for Reed Gunther in Trains, Reigns, and Pains! approaching fast (January 20th), that means reviewers are taking a peek into their advance copies! (Lucky dogs!)
First up, ThePullbox.com!
“Here at The Pullbox, we have a belief about the comic industry at large and the Independents specifically… The best talent out there are the people you haven’t heard about yet and they are working on books you haven’t read yet. Shane and Chris Houghton’s Reed Gunther is a prime example of this. These true independents have done some incredible work here that you will be sorry if you miss out on.”
Stop it! We’re blushing… Be sure to read the whole (flattering) article here!
Thanks to Eric for the gracious review!
“HOLY STEAK AND BEANS!”
This by-the-book Train Conductor really doesn’t have time for your crap. Get on the train or get off. I’ve seen this guy plant his feet and push the back of the caboose with his bare hands just to make sure the train starts on time. I don’t know how much that actually helps, but he is intensely dedicated.
I really hope Reed doesn’t run into him…
New character from Reed Gunther in Trains, Reigns, and Pains!
Available Jan. 20th!
Who the heck is this guy? What does he want with our lovable grizzly bear, Sterling ? Is he good at drawing? What’s with his strange obsession with horse skulls?
None of these questions answered in…
Wowee! Over at ComicBookBin.com, reviewer Andy Frisk not only wrote a rave review for Reed Gunther in Trains, Reigns, and Pains!, but also put us on his Frisk’s Picks: 2009 as Best Small Run/Indie Series!
“A Bear Ridin’ Cowboy, a Steak Snackin’ Snake, a Stalac-Tight Spot, and some Trains, Reigns, and Pains combine to comprise the best quirky, off beat, funny, and all around enjoyable indie comic since mutated, pizza chompin’, teenaged turtles proved that off the wall characters and stories, if well drawn and written, can be more fun than a barrel full of “dead” Batmans.”
Andy was also kind enough to write a full on review of the new issue, available on January 20th!
He says stuff like:
“Shane and Chris Houghton’s Reed Gunther series is simply getting better with each passing issue.”
“The fact that the book is so much fun and funny at the same time is simply gravy to go with the ’steak and beans.’”
“Overall, this quality of storytelling, art, and just plain fun is often hard to find amongst smaller run, lighthearted, “indie” comics. The Brothers Houghton have something special on their hands with Reed Gunther. These guys are definitely two young creators worth keeping an eye on.”
Many thanks to Andy and the folks over at ComicBookBin.com for being such great fans of our little book!
